Accipe signaculum doni Spiritus Sancti – Be sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit!
This past Sunday, 31 May 2020 and this coming Sunday, 7 June 2020, we have the privilege with welcoming young men of women of Our Lady of the Lake, into full completion of their Sacraments of Initiation – Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. CONGRATULATIONS!
The entire parish is immensely proud of each one of you and we would like to thank all of those that assisted and supported you. I would like to especially thank the parents who laid that Christian foundation for all of you to emulate and follow. A Christian Foundation that was Sealed with the Gift of the Holy Spirit when Monsignor Makarewicz anointed each of you with perfumed chrism oil and with laying his hand upon your shoulder.
Now that you have been confirmed this indicates that every one of you are now more perfectly bound to the Church with receiving the Special Strength of the Holy Spirit! And with that strength, each of you are now true witnesses of Jesus Christ and are more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word, action, and deed.
As a defender of the faith you must become more aware of the foundation of our Faith – Holy Scripture and Holy Traditions. Truly listen to the words of the Nicean Creed that we recite at Mass – I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and Earth. And in Jesus Christ His only Son. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the Forgiveness of Sins, the Resurrection of the Body, and Life Everlasting!
This is our Faith that some will ask you questions, and some will test you!
What does this all mean!
This all leads to your confirmation. Which is not the end but only the beginning of your spiritual journey! And guess what? You now have the strength of the Holy Spirit to be your helper and your guide. To give you the spirit of wisdom and understanding; the spirit of right judgement and courage; the spirit of knowledge and reverence. Finally, to fill you with the spirit of wonder and awe in the presence of God our Father and his son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
We are all truly blessed that you have chosen to be confirmed and through the strength and guidance of the Holy Spirit, to continue the mission with spreading, evangelizing, and defending our Faith!
Again, we are all enormously proud of you and look forward to providing any assistance and support in your Spiritual Journey!
Once more, Congratulations!
