Parish Religious Education Director Report:  Report sent by Vicki

  1. We are returning to weekly PSR classes as of March 24! Continued following Covid guidelines of masks and distancing. New students may attend but only if space allows. Details in the bulletin.
  2. There will be no BBQ  on April 28, the last night of classes. The Knights usually have one for students but it’s just not feasible yet to have a community event. 
  3. First Communion Special Mass will be held at noon on Sun, May 23. (Pentecost Sunday)
  4. Confirmation will be held on Thursday, April 22 at 6:30 pm. Bishop McKnight will confer the Gift of the Holy Spirit !! 
  5. Next meeting I will submit next years calendar and budget for review. 
  6. We will return to text books with online access next year. Msgr says that lines are being installed during work done on the parking lot. 
  7. Hispanic Community/ESL: Karen and I spoke to the Hispanic community at Mass last week about saying, “Yes,” and I presented sign up sheets for various commissions and volunteer positions.  We may have a couple to teach Spanish to us.  ESL is possible as well.  Please pray for this to happen!

Update at meeting: Kelly shared an overview of budget info for 2020-2021. Will have detail available at next meeting if people want. Next year’s budget is due to Finance Committee in April so will need to be finalized at next meeting. Kelly also reported that improved internet will be installed for Bestgen Hall at the same time as Security System.  Cost estimate for that being submitted to Monsignor.

Confirmation: Report sent from Karen

Confirmation planning is in full swing.  The date of April 22 at 6:30 with Bishop McKnight is on the calendar.  Similar plans from the 2020 confirmation masses are being employed. A parent informational letter has been mailed and parents will be contacted to confirm specific details. The church community is pulling together to once again make this a special event for students and their families. Also, two additional gatherings were able to be added to the calendar prior to the confirmation mass. 

Adult Faith Formation:  Report sent from Barb 

Barb is hoping to start the “Doing Business by the Book” meetings after Easter.

Family Life:   Report sent from Karri 

Nothing new to report. 

Update at meeting: Kelly reported that there is now one more Baptism to schedule. Also a Mass will be held on Sat, March 6, 3 pm for a Quinceniera and a Baptism. and Library:  Kelly reported still waiting on new computer.  

Renewal Movement:  Report sent from Mel

Welcome – The Welcome Continuation Committee met on February 16, 2021.  Current rotating members are Linda Adams, Kathy Cotter, Glenda Hinrichs, Stephanie Koch, Marilee Poulter, and Susan Ziegler.  The two open seats are for men who will be from the first men’s welcome weekend team.  Melodi Graessle will be a permanent member as long as she is Renewal Movement Chair of the Education Commission.  The committee reviewed their duties as set by the Welcome Manual.  The next meeting will be in September 2021.

On March 2, there was a History and Faith Sharing meeting for the attendees of the October 2020 Welcome Weekend.  They will form the team for the next Ladies Welcome Weekend. The next Ladies Welcome Weekend is set for October 23-24, 2021.

New Evangelization:  Linda B. 

Linda is working with Monsignor, deacons and wives to set up a ministry to assist divorced Catholics.  Reviewing programs now.

Dynamic Catholic sent short reflection handout called “The Basics.” Plans are to put copies out on tables at church for people to pick up starting March 13.

OCI and Catechesis:  Deacon Paul

OCI class going well. Have three participants.

OCI CONTINUED class – Going well.

Monsignor on vacation but first meeting scheduled and plans underway. Pastoral Plan web page launched.


Scholarship program discussed.  Those applying must be in college.   Linda has form to review and Kelly reported she will keep a file on scholarship applications received. Timeline to be established.

Next Meeting Date: TBD as scheduled date is Holy Thursday.

Coordinators for Key Responsibility Areas:

  1. Order of Christian Initiation:  The preparation for initiation into the Church for adults and children of catechetical age will be a special ministry of the commission, ensuring that there are catechists and sponsors to accompany the catechumens on the way to full initiation in to the sacramental life of the Church. __Deacon Paul Poulter_
  2. Christ Renews His Parish and Renewal Movements:  The coordinator for renewal programs identifies, introduces and supervises the various renewal programs that are available to parishioners. _Melodi Graessle_
  3. Marriage Preparation, Baptism of Infants and Formation for Family Life:  The coordinator for marriage preparation, infant baptism and formation for family life serves a foundational role in building up the domestic church in the home.  _Karri Brauman_
  4. K-12 Religion Classes:  The coordinator for the religious education of the youth has one of the most essential roles to play in faith formation. _Vicki Irsik_
  5. Sacramental Preparation for Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation:  The coordinator for sacramental preparation is a significant role along with the classroom catechists. The coordinator serves as an advisor, a facilitator and leader especially in ensuring that every person has access to sacramental catechesis at the appropriate time or remediating situations where a sacrament is lacking in the lives of the faithful. __________________________________
  6. Adult Faith Formation: The Coordinator for adult faith formation initiates programs that Invite and enable ongoing conversion to Jesus in holiness of life; promote and support active membership in the Christian community; and call and prepare adults to act as disciples in mission to the world.  _Barb Steinman_
  7. The New Evangelization:  The coordinator for the new evangelization seeks out those who have not heard, or have forgotten, ignored or rejected the Christian message. _Linda Bukalski_
  8. Parish Faith Formation Library:  The Church has been and will continue to be a people of The Book. Therefore it is essential that literary, spiritual and catechetical materials be made available for all parishioners of all ages. _Kelly Hamrin_
  9. Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life:  The coordinator for vocations to the priestly and religious life informs, organizes and leads the parish in regard to ensuring that the Lord’s call to pray for more workers in the vineyard is heard by each parishioner.  _______________________
