Family Faith Formation

March 23, 2025

Family Challenge: We are officially in the Spring season. A time for new life…trees budding, flowers poking through the ground, spring showers. One of my favorite signs of spring is the flowering of the dogwood. They add a certain lace in the woods that symbolize not only the new life in nature but also the new life in Christ. The four petals symbolize the cross and the faint pink or red ripple at the edge of the petal depicting the nails in Christ’s hands and feet as He was hanging from that cross. The flowers also have a spiky stamen in the center of the petals that resembles the crown of thorns. To think that this beautiful flower so perfectly depicts Christ dying on the cross for us offering new eternal life, bringing us so much for which to be grateful. As a family challenge this week, take some time discussing the signs of new life around us. Let each family member discuss what they have found in nature that gives them that vibrant feeling of new life.
