Family Faith Formation

April 13, 2025

Family Challenge: When growing up, Good Friday was a big deal at our house. We would go to noon service at our parish church in Kansas City. Once we left the church, we were not allowed to talk until 3:00. We were supposed to be meditating about Christ dying for us. Let me tell you, there were six of us and not all of my siblings were into the whole thing so they would work extra hard to make those of us that were trying with all our might to get us talking. As a family, for the remainder of Lent, pick a time each week where everyone is silently listening to what God is trying to tell you. Do it for 15 or 20 minutes. After that meditation time, take a few minutes talking about what God had to say. And then, when Good Friday rolls around, see if all of you can hold out for an entire hour. It is something that I did when my children were at home. It was one of the most powerful experiences each year.
