Family Faith Formation

July 27, 2025 Michele Haggerty

This year with Family Faith Formation, the hope is that we all get more focused on the Saints that have gone before us. They are of such varied ages, times here on earth, ethnicities, and ways of expressing their spirituality or evangelization. These characteristics of the saints can be blueprints for us to pattern our life to one day be a saint as well. I would like each family to search for a saint for each family member that will ultimately become their primary patron saint. If you follow on the saint’s path, it gives everyone the opportunity to see Christ’s light shining through. That is what the saints were to the people of their time and location, a reflection of Christ’s love and light. We all have our special way of expressing our Christ like behavior. The special saint selected as your pattern will be the perfect example for how to live so that people will see Christ’s light shining through you! Yes, each of you!

Just as Christ tells us in this week’s gospel, “ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Christ wants us to ask because he wants us to be willing to rely on Him. The same is true of the saints. There is nothing that Christ or the saints are unable to give to you. Nothing is too big or too small to ask. Please watch the reel below where Father Dominic Legge talks about asking for things in prayer. The saints and Christ want to have the very personal relationship with each of us as good friends. You wouldn’t hesitate to ask a friend for a favor, therefore, why should we be so hesitant to ask the one who loves us most, Christ, for a favor as well.

Upcoming Events

  • Wednesday, August 13 – The Queenship Novena will be in lieu of XLT Adoration from 6:00-7:00 (after 5:30 Mass) in the church. This is for the whole parish family!!
  • Saturday, August 16 – Supper with the Saints after 5:00 Mass. Sign up in Fellowship Hall. Pick a saint whose feast day is in the month of July and then come up with a dish that will be shared potluck style that represents that saint. For example, St. Joseph could be Sloppy Joe’s or since many Sicilians believe that St. Joseph is their patron saint, you could make an Italian dish. Please be prepared to share a few facts about the saint that you selected. This is open to all parishioners! It promises to be a fun community builder. Since this month is in conjunction with the Queenship Novena, we will be offering appetizers and desserts after the Novena. Please plan to stay and learn a little something about the Saints! We have such a good time listening to what saints have been selected and why.
