Nineteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time, August 10th
Where did the summer go?? I remember telling you all that I disliked summer because I miss having all the kiddos here on Wednesday nights. So, I guess that means that if we speed through at warp speed, it won’t hurt as much. I still missed all the kiddos on Wednesday, but it sure went by fast! Maybe it is true about the older we get; the faster time goes by. For an old lady like me, time is flying!! As we wind down and get ready to start fresh with a new school year, let’s take some time to evaluate ourselves to see how we are doing in the way we shine in Christ. Do we think that we can come up with a way or two that will help us shine brighter? Is there something that we do to diminish the light? Do we engage in activities that dull Christ’s light that should be shining bright through us? You have a couple of weeks to work out a plan to shine things up and put your best foot forward this school year.
Family Challenge: Talk as a family and assist one another in developing ways to help each other to allow Christ’s light shine through you. Let’s have this new school year be one that shows the people around you that you are a follower of Jesus Christ.
Upcoming Events
- Wednesday, August 13 – The Queenship Novena will be in lieu of XLT Adoration from 6:00-7:00 (after 5:30 Mass) in the church. This is for the whole parish family!!
- Saturday, August 16 – Supper with the Saints after 5:00 Mass. Sign up in Fellowship Hall. Pick a saint whose feast day is in the month of July and then come up with a dish that will be shared potluck style that represents that saint. For example, St. Joseph could be Sloppy Joe’s or since many Sicilians believe that St. Joseph is their patron saint, you could make an Italian dish. Please be prepared to share a few facts about the saint that you selected. This is open to all parishioners! It promises to be a fun community builder. Since this month is in conjunction with the Queenship Novena, we will be offering appetizers and desserts after the Novena. Please plan to stay and learn a little something about the Saints! We have such a good time listening to what saints have been selected and why.
- Wednesday, September 3 – FFF Registration and BBQ from 6:00-7:30 in Bestgen Hall. This will follow the 5:30 Mass in the church.
- Wednesday, September 10 – First night of FFF classes for K-12.
