Worship Commission Minutes February 29, 2024
Call to Order:
Karri Brauman called the meeting to order at 4:00pm with Kathy Cotter and Lorraine Harrison in attendance.
Opening Prayer: Prayed the Commitment to Mission Prayer.
Worship Commission Leadership: Karri Brauman
Karri informed the commission that she is unable to fulfill the position of Worship Commission Representative to Pastoral Council. Lorraine Harrison agreed to step in as an interim representative until a permanent volunteer steps forward.
Jenn Otto, the Stewardship Council Representative for Worship Commission, gave us our feedback sheets from the stewardship packets sent out to parishioners. Karri will review the sheets and let the appropriate ministry leaders know if we have new volunteers.
Discussion then turned to the Pastoral Council request for each commission to review their charters. After reading through the charter, it was decided that our mission, structure, and procedures will remain the same. The greatest changes will occur in ministry coordination.
Currently, the commission names one ministry coordinator for each of the following ministries chosen from either the core team, associate members or parish staff.
• Ministry of Hospitality – Lorraine Harrison
• Ministry of Reader – Carolyn Loraine
• Ministry of Music and Song – Stacy Gier
• Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion – Vacant
• Sacristan and Ministry of Mass Coordinator – Vacant
• Art and Environment – Kathy Cotter
• Order of Christian Initiation – Deacon Paul Poulter
• Prayer and Devotions – Debbie Noland
• Altar Server – Vacant
• Liturgical Formation of the Assembly – Vacant
Due to the addition of the Parish Council, the Stewardship Council, and the restructuring requests from Father Penn, the commission has suggested the following changes to the different ministries:
• Ministry of Liturgical Support (coordinator will aid Father in the training of the following positions and offer support to those volunteers)
o Usher/Greeters
o Offertory Collection Counters
o Readers
o Eucharistic Ministers
• Ministry of Music and Song (filled by staff music director)
• Ministry of Mass Coordinator and Sacristan
• Altar Servers
• Art and Environment
• Prayer and Devotions
• Parish Digital Communications
The OCI (formerly RCIA) coordinator will only need to participate in the Education Commission and no longer need to attend the Worship Commission meetings.
The Liturgical Formation of the Assembly will be overseen by the Education Commission.
Although it has been on the agenda since 2021-2022, Parish Digital Communications will be officially added to the charter.
All of these recommendations will be submitted to Father Penn for review. Once reviewed and changes made, the charter will be submitted to the Parish Council and Fr. Penn for final approval.
Calendar Review:
The blessing of the new Stations of the Cross in the chapel donated by Susan Andres will be Friday, March 1 at 4 pm. Praying the Stations will happen immediately after.

New Business:
Lorraine spoke with the Grief Support facilitator at Lake Regional about our desire to create some type of bereavement outreach here at Our Lady of the Lake. The facilitator provided good information and invited Lorraine to attend the next meeting to see how it is conducted. The OLL group would meet here and the church and would provide support and education to those who have lost a loved one or who are in the process of losing someone. Educational topics addressed might be financial guidance, teachings of the Catholic faith concerning death, funeral rites, hospice care, etc.
It was also brought up that this outreach might better fit under the direction of Social Concerns. This topic will be discussed further with Father Penn.
