If you have been wanting to give back to others but do not have time for meetings, the Compassion Meal/Funeral Dinner ministries may be what the Holy Spirit has put in your path to do just that.

A brief description: Compassion Meal is for any parishioner who is either returning from the hospital, surgery, been dealing with an illness or injury. To “lighten the load” a bit during these trying times, this ministry provides a meal which is brought to the parishioner’s home. At times, when one is homebound due to an injury, hospital stay or surgery – it is nice to know others are thinking and praying for you.

The Funeral Dinner Team provides different ingredients or food items for a dinner provided to parishioners having a funeral at Our Lady of the Lake. If you would like to help set up, serve or clean
up at these dinners, that would be available via this ministry. It is a wonderful way to give the final farewell to a fellow parishioner.

For either of these ministries, you just drop off your food item at the Church. You would not be expected to do so every time there is a need. But when you are able, it is a beautiful way in which to assist in these beautiful Corporal Works of Mercy.

If you have had a calling from the Holy Spirit to give a bit more of your time and talent, but just not sure how – these two ministries may be just what the Holy Spirit is whispering in your ear to fulfill that calling.
