The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe
We do it or we don’t. If we accomplish those things the Lord calls us to, we will be rewarded with everlasting glory. If we don’t, we will be rejected. All of us are to be accountable for our actions. We cannot assume that heaven is ours because we want it. We are not entitled to heaven. As God’s servants, much is required of us in order that much will be given. May we be faithful to our responsibility as servants and stewards of God’s many gifts in order that we may delight in the rewards that are given to God’s faithful ones.
I wish to thank those of our parish who requested to have the Prayer to St. Michael prayed in the church after his statue was placed in the church. Beginning next weekend, at the conclusion of the Recessional Hymn, the Prayer of St. Michael will be recited for those who wish to participate. Prayer cards are available in the niche where the statue is located. This prayer will be prayed after all the weekend Masses.
Mark your calendars for some special dates: Tuesday, December 5th, I will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the church. On Friday, December 15th, I will be available in the church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 19th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. There will be no Advent Communal Penance Service held this year in our parish. A Parish Mission, led by Fr. Richard Gielow, C.M., will be held in our church at the weekend Masses on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday at 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. The Mission will continue on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening with Mass at 7:00 p.m. followed with a reception in Fellowship Hall.
