Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

   With what have we been charged?  To what has God called us to?  God’s Call often challenges us to act opposite of what the world is calling us to.  God’s Call to holiness certainly opposes the ways of this world.  All the treasures of this world will cease to be at the end of God, while all the treasures that come God will both lead to and remain eternally.  We must learn to be silent when God speaks to us, for God is calling us to heights that can never be reached on our own accord.  As God called Samuel and the disciples, may we too, respond in the way they did by setting all things aside that inhibit a positive response and seek to follow God and live in His ways.
