Richard H. Sefcik
1944 – 2024

Fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, Richard Henry Sefcik passed away on March 31, 2024 at his home in Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.

He was born on September 3, 1944 in Passaic, New Jersey the only child of Henry and Helen (Jaworski) Sefcik. Rick was united in marriage to Barbara Clark on May 2, 1970 sharing nearly 54 years together at the time of his passing.

At a young age, Rick moved from New Jersey to St. Petersburg, Florida. There he enjoyed all the state had to offer from fishing and diving to boating and the beaches. He graduated from the University of Southern Florida with a degree in psychology.

A career with American Heart moved Rick and his young family to Memphis, TN. There the kids grew up and Rick finished his work life as an administrator at Southern College of Optometry. Retirement eventually brought Rick and Barb to Lake of the Ozarks where they spent the last 22 years. There, he was lovingly referred to as “the mayor” of the neighborhood for his perpetual willingness to lend a hand.

Rick enjoyed boating, fishing, gardening and, most of all, spending time with his beloved family and friends. He spent many years as a volunteer at Hope House helping to serve the needy of his community. Rick was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church where he greeted people as an usher. His five grandchildren were sources of untold joy as well as targets of good natured and unceasing teasing.

Rick is survived by his wife, Barbara Sefcik; his children Lisa Cooley (Chad), Alison Raymo (David); his five grandchildren Mary Ellen Raymo, Evan Cooley, Ryan Cooley, Camille Raymo and Olivia Cooley and many dear friends.

A private interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cottleville, Missouri.
