Jackie Hiegert, Bob Hiegert, Joe Mayer, Joyce Mayer, Sharon Kanuch, Patty McNally, Jan Metz,

Katie Thorman

NOTE:  There were no minutes for November and December 2021.  11 November the Commission worked with putting together the Advent Angels for the Advent Angel Tree Sunday distribution on 13/14 November.  9 December the Commission prepared all the gifts and needed support for Advent Angel Tree distribution on 10 December 2021.  A truly great success!

  • Opening Prayer and Reflection:  Dcn. Jim gave a nice reflection regarding us being a giving people called into action by God. A faith without works is not  alive. We should watch our behavior and make sure we are a reflection of God. Ask yourself: If not me then who? If not today, when?
  • Commitment to Mission prayer – Everyone prayed together.
  • Ministry to Families & Ministry to the Poor (Salva vida Outreach) – Dcn. Jim spoke about getting a group of people “vetted” so that they are able to assist those in need that come by/call the parish office. Lynne Green, Ron Green, Karri Brauman, Karen Pither, Pam Scherer, Lusica Hankins and Jan Metz are a few already in this group that are supporting those calling Our Lady of the Lake for assistance.
  • Funeral Dinners, Compassion Meals & Kindness Meals: Lusica – 13 kindness meals on 22 Dec 2021 and one compassion meal were provided to a parishioner who had surgery.  If anyone knows of someone who would be a good candidate for a monthly kindness meal, please pass name on to Father Medina, Melodi or Lusica.
  • Ministry of Health and Well Being –Jan Metz has called and reached out to those that are homebound ensuring they are doing well and if they need anything.
  • : Glenda sent correspondence prior to the meeting as she was unable to attend. Chili Cookoff dinner is on Thursday, January 20th from 6-8pm at the Exchange Venue in Camdenton. Cost is $25 per person to enter their chili cookoff or $30 the day of the event. All ages are welcome to attend.  The cost is $10 for those eating over the age of 14. The Novena, 9 days of life begins on January 19-27th. You can sign up at www.respectlife.org.
  • The Angel Advent gifts were all returned to the church and passed out.  There were 125 total gifts bought. 110 gifts were given to Hope House in 2021 and it was discussed to possibly increase that number in 2022 to 120. We will keep the Angel tags the same for next year. In addition, we will continue to use tables to display them since it is easier for parishioners to view and pick them up from the table then  hanging the tags on a Christmas tree.
  • Dcn. Jim checking with the Knights of Columbus group to see if anyone has volunteered to take charge of donut Sunday.
  • This training is for everyone on the commission to complete.  Website: https://diojeffcity.org/safe-environment. After completion, please let Dcn. Jim know so that he can pass your name along to Vicki. It takes about one hour to complete the course.
  • Next Meeting Date:  Our next committee meeting will be held on March 10th, at 6pm. This allows for any training/vetting and or committee discussions versus having a full meeting in which any item of necessity between meetings can be communicated through email.  Also, please let Dcn Jim know if you do not want your email or phone number provided in a shared group roster.
  • Prayer and Reflection leader for next meeting: Dan Jim
  • Closing Pastoral Plan Prayer was prayed by all.
