Minutes 

Attendees: Lusica Hankins, Bob & Jackie Heigert, Sharon Konuch, Patty McNally; Theresa Brown, Katie Thorman, Gayle Pleus, Glenda Henrichs.

1. Opening Prayer and ReflectionLusica Hankins lead us in prayer.

2. Commitment to Mission prayer  Everyone prayed together. 

3. Our Lady of the Lake Parish Directory:  The directories are here. Lusica has coordinated with other parishioners who will be handing them out January 27 & 28th and February 3rd & 4th after all masses in the Fellowship Hall. Each family or person in the directory may receive one.  We are going to sell some in the future. We have 183 total pictures for the directory. Thank You to Kathy Cotter, Jackie Heigert, Kathy Flemming, Susan Zeigler, and Lusica Hankins for their hard work with scrubbing the directory draft.  Thanks goes out to all of those that supported this project from its beginning in Dec 2023 through its completion and upcoming distribution.  FOLLOW-UP:  Due to a publisher error, the directories were reprinted and will be distributed on Feb 3/4 and Feb 17/18.   

4. Ministry to Families & Ministry to those in Need: (Salva vida Outreach)— Our budget for Charity Support for those in need for 1 July 2023 – 30 June 2024 is $10,000.  A request for an update with our expenditures through Dec 2023 was not received at the time of our meeting and will be provided in a separate email.  We continue to experience increased needs within our community where Joan, Kelly and Carol do a great job with doing an initial screening for assistance/support.  

5. Funeral Dinners, Compassion Meals & Kindness Meals: Lusica stated we had 15 KindnessMeals provided in Dec 2023.  No Compassion Meals nor funeral dinners were needed.  

6. Ministry of Health and Spiritual Well Being – Home visits continue to be made by members of our group to include providing Holy Communion when requested.  

7. Ministry for Protecting Life (Pregnancy Health Center): Theresa Brown mentioned the chili cook-off which will be held on March 7, 2024 at the Exchange Venue, 57 Court Circle in Camdenton MO. We will have two tables seating 30 participants in total to this event.  Per last year, we are requesting a $15 donation for each person that participates that can be provided to Dcn Jim prior to the event or provided at the event.  Dcn Jim will be receiving a packet with all the tickets to attend to include two tickets for chili entrees.  The two chili entrée fees of $25 are already included with the sponsorship.  So far, we have Bob & Jackie Heigert and Gayle Pleus and Gary Heislen who plan enter their chili this year. 

8. Ministry to the Community (Advent Angel Tree):  We provided support for 165 children/seniors to include 150 to the Hope House, five to Lake Side Meadows-Stonebridge; five to Lake Ozark Rehab; and five to Helping Hands. All the gifts were distributed, and everyone was so grateful. Patty shared the story of a young man with disabilities that received one of gifts that went to Hope House. 

9. Ministry of Hospitality and Fellowship – Welcoming New Parishioners: The StewardshipCommission is bundling the information from all the commissions within the church and distributing it to the new members of our parish.  Social Concerns will receive the names of all new parish members and will support a “Meet and Greet” on an as needed basis but at least once in the October month of each year.  

10. Osage Beach Senior Center: We are working on a flyer regarding the activities of the Centerfor the bulletin.  The hours are 8am-4pm, Monday-Friday. They offer meals for $5 for those 60 years or older to include a weeks’ worth of frozen meals for $7/meal that can also be delivered.  They have a wealth of daily and special activities to include special wellness support that varies each month.    

11. Virtus (safe environment) Training:  Website: https://diojeffcity.org/safe-environment. After you have completed the training, please contact Dcn. Jim so that he can pass your name along to Vicki Irsik who is the Virtus Training Point of Contact for Our Lady of the Lake.  It takes about two hours to complete the course. 

12. Next Meeting Date:  Next meeting will be Thursday, March 14, 2024.  The prayer leader is Patty McNally.
