Take a moment

This time of year, I tend to feel like a caged animal. No, I don’t go so far as to pace back and forth.

However, working from home full-time, I can sometimes go for days without leaving the house, especially if the weather is bad.

I start thinking too much and become more introverted than I already am. It is like climbing deeper into myself. Thoughts of sad things start up, worries about things I have absolutely no control over grow. I’m starting down that slippery slope of depression.

Over the years, I’ve become pretty good at sensing these changes. I know it is time to reach out and do some things for others. Taking the focus off myself always does the trick. That first step, though, is a hard one. Just remember, we are made to thrive with others and not stay in isolation.
