Minutes of Worship Commission Meeting, Tuesday, April 25, 2023
Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Lake Ozark, MO, Diocese of Jefferson City
Karri Brauman called the 4:00pm meeting to order with Kathy Cotter, Lorraine Harrison, Carolyn Loraine, Tony Kirn, and Debbie Noland in attendance.
Opening Prayer: Prayed the Commitment to Mission. Lorraine Harrison provided the reflection and hospitality.
Minutes of the last meeting:
Mary Scarlet published the meeting notes from April 25th on the parish website.
Worship Commission Leadership: Karri Brauman
Karri Brauman led the meeting. The team conducted an AAR (After Action Report) regarding Holy Week and Divine Mercy Chaplet. Overall, everyone was pleased with how Holy Week went. One positive mentioned was having altar servers at all Masses. Another positive was having 12 parishioners of different ages and cross-sections on the altar for Holy Thursday Mass. Multiple compliments on the florals and displays were heard too. We had 15 people attend the Divine Mercy Chaplet and Steve did a beautiful job leading with music.
Review of the calendar for May, June, July and August was done next. We have May Crowning Mass on May 3 followed by Mass for the First Communicants on Sunday, May 7 at 10:00 am. There will be no June meeting for Worship Commission. July’s meeting will focus on planning for the upcoming Queenship Novena in August. Questions for Steve to present to Fr. Penn concerning Novena – What time will Masses be held for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary? and Will the Queenship Mass be held at 8:00am in the chapel?
Ministry of Art and Environment: Kathy Cotter
Floral donations leftover from Easter will be used to replenish the display in the sanctuary until the end of the Easter season.
PSR students will be encouraged to bring in flowers for May Crowning on the 3rd and reserve signs will be placed in the center section of the church on the 7th at 10am for families of the First Communicants
Appropriate sanctuary décor will be added for the upcoming Sundays: Pentecost, The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, and The Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ
The new locking ambry holding the sacred vessels was installed on the back wall of the sanctuary near the tabernacle.
Ministry of Hospitality: Lorraine Harrison
Lorraine has a current list of those who have attended training meetings and completed Virtus training. The next usher/greeter training meeting will be on May 23 at 5:30 pm. An announcement in the bulletin should be placed encouraging parishioners to sign up for the position if they have not done it before. The Usher/Greeter sequence of action pamphlets are currently under assessment and will be updated by the July 25th meeting.
Ministry or Lector: Carolyn Loraine
The next training session with Father Penn for the Ministry of Lectors will be Thursday, May 18, at 5:30pm. Also, the Lectors sequence of action pamphlets are currently under assessment and will be updated by the July 25th meeting.
Ministry of Music and Song: Steve Jannetti
Absent
Ministry of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion: Mary Scarlett
Absent
Ministry of Mass Coordinator/Sacristan – Tony Kirn
The Extraordinary Minister Training meeting with Fr. Penn will be on Thursday, May 11 at 5:30 pm and a Public Commissioning Mass needs to be scheduled.
Pastoral Council Update – Tony Kirn
Tony was unable to attend the last Pastoral Council Meeting, but further discussion was had on welcoming new parishioners. Worship Committee members will attend the upcoming Donut Sunday in May to promote Worship Commission and welcome any new parishioners. Karri Brauman will take Carolyn Loraine’s idea of starting a potluck dinner to connect new parishioners with current parishioners to Deacon Jim and the Social Concerns Committee. She will also discuss with Deacon Jim about possibly ordering 100 Directory Folders from UC with information about Our Lady of the Lake.
Rite of Initiation and the Sacraments: Deacon Paul
Absent
Prayer and Devotions: Debbie Noland
Debbie reported on Fr. Penn blessing the PPI group after daily Mass for their 6-year anniversary. There were 16 in attendance that enjoyed fellowship and breakfast after Mass. She also reported that Adoration on Friday is still short staffed, and we need to recruit more parishioners.
Parish Digital Communications: Karri Brauman/Marilee Poulter
Streamers were able to stream all the masses for Holy Week. May Crowning Mass will not be streamed, but the Mass for the First Communicants will be. A notice needs to be placed in the bulletin to recruit new streamers, both high schoolers and adults.
Next Meeting: May 23th, 2023
Karri will check with Mary Scarlett to see who is on the list to provide the prayer/reflection and hospitality.
The closing prayer was held and the meeting adjourned at 5:10pm
Meeting notes respectfully submitted by Karri Brauman.
